Caraga State University proudly celebrates the victory of Clarence M. Dingding, 3rd-year Bachelor of Technical Vocational and Teacher Education (BTVTEd) student, major in Architectural Drafting Technology, who emerged as the Champion in the Digital Arts Category at the 57th Shell National Students Art Competition (NSAC).
Competing against over 2,300 entries nationwide, Clarence’s digital artwork, “DINGDING” (Pader), impressed the judges and captured the essence of his personal journey.
Inspired by his childhood his artwork titled DINGDING, or pader, meaning “wall,” represents the unwavering support of his parents, who encouraged his passion for visual arts despite limited resources. As a child, Clarence often drew on the wooden walls of their simple home, a gesture that reflected his parents’ dedication to nurturing his artistic dreams.
The award ceremony, held at the Ayala Museum in Makati City, was an emotional moment for Clarence, his coach Ms. Ivy Y. Naptong, and his mother, Ms. Marissa Dingding. With tears of joy, they proudly accepted the award together, marking a significant milestone in Clarence’s life. Following Clarence in 1st place was the entry from Eastern Visayas State University Tacloban Campus, which earned 2nd place, while the 3rd place was awarded to the University of the Philippines Manila. As the champion, Clarence was awarded a cash prize of P60,000, along with a limited-edition Shell NSAC shirt and jacket, a prestigious gold medal, commemorative plaque, Shell vouchers and a complimentary teens circle membership. The university was also awarded with a cash prize of P20,000 for this.
This victory not only brings pride to Clarence but also to the entire CSU community. His achievement highlights the importance of family support, hard work, and the nurturing environment at CSU. Clarence’s success serves as an inspiration to aspiring artists, proving that with determination and a solid foundation, dreams can truly come to life.
Congratulations, Clarence! Your triumph is a source of immense pride for Caraga State University!
